About this site!
Welcome to The Rootschat Strays Blog.
Hopefully, this site will help people find and destroy ‘Brick Wall’ relatives by finding them in the last place you would possibly look!
Whilst searching through parish registers, we all have come across entries that seem out of place. For example, for a sleepy village parish of Cornwall, the following entry could be found under baptisms:
- Joe Bloggs, son of Henry and Ann Bloggs of the parish of Rhossili in the county of Glamorgan was baptised 23 Mar 1844
Now for someone trying to find Joe in his native county of Glamorgan, this is the last place that would be checked. My aim is to create a database of stray baptisms, marriages and burials and have them all listed in one easily searchable place.
Use the search box at the bottom of the page to search the site for your ancestor and cross your fingers! Remember, the more contributions made to the site, the better it will become!
If you find any strays, please contact me and I will add them to the relative county page.
Hi David
how do you want people to ‘report’ strays to you?
Presumably you aren’t going to have people put their strays on the website themselves?
Is there a reason this is confined to England?
Dawn M
Hi Dawn.
Its only been online for a few hours, so I havent got around to adding scotland and wales yet. You can PM me on rootschat or leave a message here like you have done, and I will add them to the relevant section!
David.
